Abby began her dance training with Lisayne Ballet School, eventually gaining a wide experience of dance disciplines and achieving an advanced level in all; Ballet, Tap, Theatre craft and Modern Jazz. GCSE and A Level dance courses introduced her to Contemporary Dance and she spent three years furthering the experience with Birmingham Youth Dance Company, performing at various venues around the region and creating choreography with locally based dance artists.
Miss Wells' passion for dance, music and theatre and extensive practical experience has allowed her to develop a deep understanding of what is involved in dance performance; the physical demands on the body, the psychological preparation required, the technical elements involved and the essential efforts of teamwork needed in order for performance to be successful. Her long term scientific interest in human physiology, psychology and bodily health for dancers resulted in her studying and completing a MSc in Dance Science at the University of Wolverhampton.
She also holds a BA (Hons) degree in Dance Performance from York St John University, having had frequent opportunities to create her own work as well as lead workshops and classes at the university and in the local community. Whilst in York she collaborated with various choreographers, performing around the North of the country as well as internationally; in Derry, (Ireland) and Lisbon, (Portugal).
Abby is delighted to have the chance to teach fitness for dance and contemporary dance for Midland Independent Dance Associate Scheme. Through MIDAS, it is her goal to ensure that young dancers improve their health and fitness as well as having the opportunity to display and fully develop their own individual talents.
Abby is also a member of IADMS and Dance UK
